Why Building Local Matters

One of our favorite things about looking through old photos is seeing just how much has changed over the years.

The hairstyles have definitely changed.

The trucks have changed.

The tools have changed.

But one thing hasn’t changed: Jerry has been building along the Grand Strand for more than 30 years.

Long before online reviews, social media, and smartphones, he was building homes, solving problems, and creating relationships that still exist today.

When people ask what the difference is between working with a local builder and a large national company, the answer is actually pretty simple.

Local builders live here.

We shop at the same grocery stores, eat at the same restaurants, sit in the same traffic, and run into past clients at baseball games, school events, and community gatherings.

When your reputation is built one project at a time over four decades, every home matters.

Experience matters too.

Building in coastal South Carolina comes with its own set of challenges. Flood zones, soil conditions, hurricanes, humidity, salt air, changing building codes, and ever evolving products all play a role in how a home should be designed and built.

Some lessons can be learned from a textbook.

Others only come from years of being here and seeing what works.

That’s the kind of knowledge that can’t be rushed.

One of the things we’re most proud of is that many of our relationships span generations. We’ve worked with families whose children are now building homes of their own. That’s not something we take lightly.

We’re simply trying to continue a tradition that started decades ago: building quality homes, treating people fairly, and standing behind our work long after the project is complete.

The old photos in this post are a reminder that while the industry continues to change, the values behind good building never really do.
